One of the best times of my life!
The semester in Bali was a great experience! Not only do you grow personally and get to know yourself better, you also learn so much about Balinese culture! The kindness and friendliness of the people, the beauty of nature and how happy you can be with so little! The stay in Bali was a huge motivation boost for me to achieve my goals in Germany. The study programme consists of 3 days at university, one excursion day + 3 days off, for coursework but also for exploring on your own. The team at Udayana University as well as the team in Germany are always there for you as contact persons and are always ready to help! I would do the programme again and again at any time.
Perfectly taken care of thanks to Ketut!
It's not the newest and most modern villa, but that's what makes it special. The feeling and atmosphere in Villa Bintang is always chilled and cosy. You simply feel at home! Thanks to our house manager and neighbour Ketut, you are in the best of hands. Ketut does everything for you and is there as soon as there is a small problem. Regardless of the issue. You can also spend cosy evenings with her, have fun and have in-depth conversations about Indonesian culture :D Thanks to the location, you are not in the middle of the tourist hustle and bustle and get to experience real life in Bali. Ketut's cousin called Ketut has a small shop around the corner where you can buy everything you need in an emergency. I had a perfect time at Villa Bintang and all our friends always felt most at home at Bintang. Simply at home! :-)
Nice accommodation, but a hotel
The house and the rooms are really nice, clean and huge. The pool is great and the breakfast takes some time to plan in the morning before university, but it tastes very good. The biggest disappointment, however, was that the resort is still used as a real hotel and so new guests move in every few days, which doesn't really promote the feeling of privacy and being at home. At the very least, the hotel operation should have been mentioned in the description of this accommodation. Otherwise we would all have opted for other villas if we had known this beforehand. For 21 beds, i.e. potentially 42 hotel guests, there are only 6 sunbeds available by the pool, 4 of which are broken. So not even the current 8 students can be together at the pool. Before you book this accommodation, you should know that it is a hotel and unfortunately cannot be compared to a private villa in terms of atmosphere. I would book something else if I had the choice again. In addition, the university in Jimbaran is 40 minutes away with little traffic and a brisk pace. Otherwise, I am satisfied with the location and the house.
Villa Bintang
Had a great time at Villa Bintang. The staff and especially Ketut are very nice and helpful. I couldn't have made a better choice. Lilly was also renamed Lilly Bintang :D
You can't go wrong with IBSN
The IBSN programme has dedicated and friendly lecturers. The programme offers an appropriate balance between effort and free time. Just right for a semester abroad in Bali.
Great with a flaw
What Mr Passon has set up is flawless in terms of organisation. The application phase via the FH Dortmund is simple and clear. Mr Passon and Mr Papenfoht responded quickly to questions so that there were no unnecessary waiting times. There is a secretariat on site in Jimbaran for IBSN students only. If you have any uncertainties or questions, you can ask the secretaries and they know immediately what the issue is. The lectures are unusual at the beginning, but once you get used to the spoken English of the local lecturers, you can certainly pick up a lot of content. The university offers the Bahasa Indonesia course. For those who are interested in the language, it is really helpful to attend the lecture because the lecturers put a lot of effort into teaching the language to the students. But there is one flaw. However, I think it's a bit of a shame that you don't often come into contact with Indonesian students, because UNUD is quite extensive and the individual faculties and programmes are divided into different buildings. You remain somewhat isolated from the Germans.
A semester abroad in Bali? - Absolutely the right decision!
I decided to spend my semester abroad in Bali in Batch 23 (SS 2010). It was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. The organisation went smoothly, the course content met my expectations and everything else was wonderful... The country, the people, the food...unforgettable!
Priceless experience
Heyho, I was on the IBSN programme at Udayana in winter semester 14/15 and can only recommend it 100%. The programme content was 90% the same as what I would have done in Germany, the spoken English is not difficult and you get to know a whole new culture and (if you want) a simple language. I still have relationships with Indonesians today and will continue to cultivate them. I'm already planning to fly over again next year as an alumni. Best regards Marc
IBSN - simply the best
I am currently in the middle of my IBSN semester abroad in Bali. I have already seen a lot in Asia - Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines and I have to say Indonesia, especially Bali is my favourite so far :) Just the right mix of Asian lifestyle and western amenities. I couldn't imagine a better place for a semester abroad. It's the same with the IBSN programme - the perfect mix of ambition and nonchalance has been found here. You learn a lot, can broaden your own horizons and still have enough time and space to savour Bali's diverse leisure activities. All in all, a real stroke of luck, I can only recommend it to everyone :)
Super
We have been staying at Villa White night for almost 2 months now and feel very comfortable, it has simply become our home. The rooms are large and bright and beautifully furnished. I particularly like the open-plan kitchen and the communal dining and living room. The service is great! It's clean because our housekeeper comes round every day and takes care of all our needs. We feel very well looked after as every little issue is resolved within a few hours, sometimes even minutes. Of course, there are creepy-crawlies and mosquitoes everywhere, but that's no wonder with an open-plan living room. However, our maid tries to get rid of them every day, which she usually succeeds in doing, unless you leave the banana peel lying around overnight. I would say that the photos are a little outdated, as the reality looks a little different in some places, especially as far as the garden is concerned. It's made of stones and not grass as you can see in the photo. From time to time there were problems with the wifi or the electricity and water supply, but we were always helped quickly. All in all, we are very satisfied, especially with the location, as it is not very far to the university and the beach. We can only recommend the villa.
TOP
We felt very comfortable in the villa right from the start. The three of us live here and spend most of our time chilling together in the living area or by the pool! The location of the villa is great! It's 15 minutes to Bartubelig beach (707) and it's also not far to Seminjak/Kuta and the university in Denpasar. It is very quiet here and we feel very safe thanks to the night watchman! Putu (our housekeeper) or the organisation always helps us with any concerns so that we always feel we are in good hands. At the beginning there were some difficulties with running water and internet, but you can't be so petty in Bali:) The garden looks a little different in real life. There is no lawn, just stones and the sofas in the living area already have a few signs of wear, but you can come to terms with that. At the beginning we had no idea how much electricity we would need and we always have to pay extra. It's a shame that we weren't informed about this in advance. All in all, we are still very satisfied and feel very comfortable :)
very spacious villa, perfect to chill
- perfect villa for students - located close to Canggu, Seminyak - around 45min to University - big rooms - nice pool / outside area - another big student villa next door (Villa Nuri) , perfect for pool parties - numerous spots to chill (2 terraces, one balcony, one pavilion All in all a cheap and recommendable student accommodation
Cosy semester in beautiful Bali :)
GoBali was the only programme we were told about in Austria, which is why we applied through this programme. Our expectations were met in almost all cases, university life is never too stressful, the leisure activities are great and the team is really nice. The only thing that disappointed us a little was that hardly any other countries are represented at Gobali - almost all students come from Germany, with a few from Austria and other countries. Apart from that, the programme can definitely be recommended :)
cosy little house
The villa has a great location, especially the proximity to the night market with numerous warungs pays off! It's also not far to the clubs in Kuta, so you can get there cheaply by taxi or even walk. It's a pity that the promised cleaning 3 times a week only actually takes place 2 times. The internet could also be better, but this is probably a problem in Bali in general. The garden and the large pool are shared with Villa 1, so it's very cool when everyone gets on well - there's always something going on!
recommended
- Kitchen is very sparsely equipped. We bought some additional things. - There are often problems with the water or the water pressure, so that only a trickle comes out. Hot and cold water cannot be regulated - most of the time we only had cold water - The WiFi often failed. Most of the time, however, the problem was quickly resolved. Nevertheless, a very cosy villa with good facilities. The caretaker lives right next door and is always available if there are any problems. I would stay here again.
The ideal villa
Villa Nineteen is exactly like the video you can find on the internet. I can only agree with the first review, although I think there are sunbathing and seating options on the terrace. As I otherwise prefer to lie on the beach, which can be reached by scooter in 10 minutes, the sunbathing facilities by the pool are not important to me. It's more of a place where you can have a beer or two together in the evening. I personally liked the furnishings, as well as the maid's service. You don't really want for anything. The location of the villa is also ideal for getting to Seminyak or Kuta. A petrol station and other food and shopping facilities are also within walking distance. I can definitely recommend this house! As I found it perfect, I also give it 5 stars.
Great stay!
I lived in J Villa during my semester abroad in 2014 and I really liked it. Great house, great service, perfectly located and a great place to stay. I was thrilled and would stay there again any time!
Evaluation Villa DC: WS 2014
Villa DC is located in the heart of Kerobokan on Jalan Gunung Salak Utara. The location is very convenient, within a maximum of 5 minutes by scooter to Sunset Road. The Double Six and Batu Belig Beach can also be reached in a maximum of 10 minutes. There is a bakery and a small restaurant right next door. The nearest cash machine (ATM) is in the mini supermarket (Indomaret) 50 metres away, so you don't need to travel far for basic supplies of food and drinks. The villa itself has a sufficiently large pool, an open-plan kitchen and six rooms of different sizes. During our stay, the villa was normally completely cleaned by the staff team from Monday to Saturday. Cleaning usually took place from 8am in the morning. The only points of criticism are the rules for guests. If a visit from friends/family is planned, it should be clarified in advance whether there are any costs for the overnight stay and how much these are. There were some discrepancies in the 2014 winter semester. An inventory list should also be requested in case individual items are charged for at the end of the stay (broken or lost).
Panen House
Very good and clean accommodation. Good location in Seminyak. Super quick by scooter to Kunti, restaurants and beach..friendly and helpful staff and landlord. Only limited English. But wasn't really a problem. House and rooms are great. Top facilities and as I said very clean...I spent my whole term there and was completely satisfied. You can do without the pool as you can get to the beach in 3 minutes by scooter
The best time of my life
Spending a semester abroad in Bali with Asia Exchange was one of the best decisions of my life. I met a lot of nice people in Bali, learnt interesting things about the culture, explored the different facets of the island and also had some time to travel around Asia. Studying at Udayana University was very interesting, even if the English of some of the lecturers was not "perfect". The organisation by Asia Exchange was excellent. I didn't expect these four months to have such an impact on me, but Bali has changed my life and I can only recommend this experience to anyone.
Always happy to return!!! :)
Well, what can I say about Bagus Jaya Residence: I booked the accommodation because of the favourable price. Initially, I had planned to move into a villa with friends after a month in Bagus Jaya, but it never materialised. I and obviously the others felt very comfortable there and even stayed for the whole 4 months. The rooms are not luxury rooms, but they are equipped with everything you need and are perfectly adequate. Instead, the Bagus Jaya Residence scores with its staff, good location and extremely pleasant atmosphere. Osiana (the manager), Made and Anan (the nice neighbours from across the street) and everyone else who hangs around are very helpful and kind-hearted people. No matter how silly the question, they always help you with a smile on their face. So, I can only recommend this accommodation with a clear conscience...there's always something going on and you can feel pretty comfortable :) P.S. "Only" 4 stars, because no luxury ;)
I Love Villa Rajawali
I was in the villa last year with 13 other students. At first I had to get used to it, as no one had lived there for a long time before us and there were animals crawling out of every nook and cranny (cockroaches and strange worms), but after a few tonnes of insect spray I got used to it. Then I started to love this typical Balinese rustic villa. It was just great to stay there. The outdoor area was incredibly large and beautiful. That's where you spend most of your time. If I remember other villas, most of them had luxurious rooms but a super small garden. That's where we had our luxury, and the pool is also huge. The only thing that was really stupid was that we weren't allowed to have parties there because some of the students who lived there before us got up to a lot of mischief. I think the partying was completely out of the question. In general, I can only say that the villa is great! I would go there again and again. Rico was also super funny and in a good mood for the most part.
LV Villa (Legian Living House)
I also lived in the LV Villa from August to December 2014. The villa really has a great location, as described below. Unlike the other students, I took part in a different study programme and had to travel to Denpasar to the university, which took about 15 minutes. The staff are particularly commendable, very competent and friendly throughout. It is also worth mentioning that, unlike other villas, the villa has 24-hour security. I felt very comfortable there and can only recommend the villa.
Villa beo
Nice neighbourhood and close to the beach Internet did not work. Pool was often green. Christian was super helpful, his girlfriend less so. Vlt rent for under 300€ per month would be more appropriate.
