A great semester abroad!
During my semester abroad at the EOC in Bali, I had many great experiences and learnt a lot at the same time. Study: At EOC you have exactly the right balance between study and free time. The degree programme is challenging and thematically exciting, but gives you enough time to explore and enjoy the island and get to grips with the different culture. Free time: Bali is a great island with many different sides, which you are even helped to get to know and understand in the courses. Support: In general, as a student at the EOC you get all the support you need. Thanks to the personalised support and family atmosphere, you always have someone to turn to who knows what's going on and can help. Conclusion: I had a great semester abroad with everything you could wish for. I would definitely recommend it!

After almost 5 months at Villa Rajawali, I can only say: top! There are some minor drawbacks, as the maintenance of the pool, the cleaning of the rooms and the security staff were somewhat neglected after a while. Nevertheless, I can definitely recommend the villa! Had a really great time there! The beach is close and easy to reach by scooter or motorbike, the residential area in general is absolutely great! Not too much going on and not too little and, depending on the traffic situation, it's also quite quick to get into the city if you want a bit more action. The neighbours are great (especially the nice little shop next door, which can always provide you with the essentials)! If you really want to have a good time in Bali and at the same time enjoy being with people (with ten people you are rarely alone), the villa is perfect! :)
Studying at the EOC
I spent a long time thinking about where I would like to spend my semester abroad. There are so many interesting options. But then I decided in favour of the European Overseas Campus in Bali and have never regretted my decision. Not only can you study here in a fantastic and culturally highly interesting environment, but the European and Western level of education is also provided, which is lacking at some other universities abroad. Thanks to the small group sizes, it was possible to immerse oneself very intensively in the subjects, to cater to the strengths and weaknesses of the students and all this in a very pleasant family environment. The courses were always held to a high standard by international lecturers, but they never lost their appeal and were always a lot of fun. Thanks to the very caring support from Professor Dr Rehling and his wife Merina, students settled in well and quickly formed a small EOC family in which they were never left alone with problems.
Register & enjoy Bali ;-)
GoBali is still a very young programme, the founders Marko and Jan both spent their semester abroad in Bali some time ago and we benefit from their experience. They know what a student expects when they come to Bali for a semester abroad and have designed the programme accordingly. If you want to be academically challenged every day, you should probably apply to Harvard! Instead, GoBali gives you plenty of freedom to see and experience Bali and its many attractions. Marko is in Bali for the whole semester and is always open to any questions, you meet him from time to time in the evening when going out or surfing ... I think that reflects how close GoBali is to us students! I don't have much experience with the other programmes, but I can only recommend GoBali to you! Have fun ;-)
Review
When I first heard about the programme, I was a bit sceptical as to whether it would be beneficial to study in Bali. Gradually, I realised that this programme was very suitable for me. The lectures are of a very high standard and you are very well supervised. You also get to know a completely new culture and are in one of the most beautiful places in the world at the same time.
What to expect at the EOC
"Small but nice" - this motto not only fits the beautiful Bali, but also the great EOC programme. If you value personal support, a very good language level, small learning groups and interactive lessons, you should opt for a semester abroad at the EOC. Not comparable to Germany, the climate, culture, language and, above all, the food in Bali make for a big change. With thousands of new impressions and the opportunity to organise your own free time, time flies by. During the compact weeks with compulsory attendance at university, full concentration and stamina are required. After university, you usually have to prepare presentations or study for the test the next day. But once the attendance week is over, you usually have at least two weeks off. Thanks to the free time you have to work on your assignments, you can make good use of this time to visit Bali or the many easily accessible neighbouring islands or countries. An unforgettable time awaits you!
Studying at the EOC
Since Uwe taught at the EOC in Flensburg before his time there, the EOC was highly promoted at our university. At first I only became aware of it because I had heard about Bali. I associated Bali with good weather, waves, partying and surfing. But from my research and my current experience I can say that this is not the case. There are some programmes here that are only designed for holidays, but if that's what you're after, you're in the wrong place at the EOC. In my opinion, Uwe and Merina have created a unique opportunity to study in paradise. The international lecturers give you an incredible amount of experience and insights into a wide variety of cultures. I now also know that seminars suit me much better than lectures, as I already realise that I have taken away and retained much more. It is a unique time and I can really only advise everyone to take part in this programme.
Study in Bali
I became aware of this programme when I was looking for study opportunities in Indonesia. I particularly liked the fact that, despite being a "foreigner", I could easily get credit for some courses, as the credits are awarded according to European standards. I can fully confirm the description of the EOC programme. The programme offers a package of high quality and contemporary interesting seminars with international lecturers in small seminar groups, embedded in the context of a very interesting country in South East Asia - in this case in the context of a very interesting island Bali. The seminars are organised as weekly block courses. Within a seminar week, smaller tests are written (depending on the seminar) and presentations are prepared and given. At the end there is a written exam or term paper, sometimes both. This sounds like a lot of work and is usually the case. Nevertheless, it is worth the effort. As there is always a week off between the block courses, there is enough time to travel and explore the island, neighbouring islands or neighbouring countries. The support provided by the EOC coordinators is very good and contributes greatly to the family atmosphere. Not forgetting the lovely barbecue evenings at the Rehlings' house. Compared to the other programmes offered in Bali, the EOC is by far the best organised and supervised programme with high-quality seminars in Bali, even if it is also the most expensive of all.

I applied for the programme as an exotic student, as I study educational science at the University of Flensburg and have not yet had any contact with international management. However, I majored in educational economics and am aware of the increasingly important financial component of educational practice. It was therefore a great opportunity for me to gain an insight into a field of study that is relevant to me and to combine this with an experience abroad. I would like to urge all prospective students and especially teachers to take such a formative step, as the individual and qualitative experience is unbeatable. In addition, the team on site is unbeatable.
Studying at the EOC
I took part in the EOC programme in the 2013/2014 semester. I became aware of the programme through information events at my university in Flensburg. What made me decide to go to Bali in the first place was that all credits are recognised. I also found it interesting to gain experience with lecturers from New Zealand or Australia and to familiarise myself with the different teaching methods of the EOC compared to German courses. Lessons take place in small groups, which gives you the chance to participate more actively in the lectures. Each course also includes lectures and usually a final project. This means that the workload is relatively high, but there is still enough time to enjoy and see Bali. The support from the two founders of the EOC is also very good and warm-hearted. They really take care of all your needs. The various excursions are also very special. For example, one week we went to Nusa Lembongan to carry out our own small field study. All in all, I can only recommend studying in Bali and at the EOC for those of you who really want to study and experience something cultural.
Study in Bali
I took part in the current EOC programme in 2013/2014 and spent my semester abroad in Bali. I became aware of this programme through various information events at my university in Flensburg. I particularly liked the fact that all the credits you earn on the EOC during your stay abroad are recognised in Germany, as the programme meets the requirements of the Bologna reform. This is often not the case at other universities abroad. Once you arrive in Bali, you will realise that studying at the EOC is very different from the German university system: you study in small groups of around 15-20 people in a classroom with international lecturers. The small group size makes it possible to be challenged individually, as active participation, discussions, role plays and presentations are compulsory in every module. Although the demands are high and labour-intensive, you learn a lot in every course and surpass yourself. Another positive aspect is the support provided by the initiators of the EOC: you can turn to the school directors at any time and with any problem, be it of a university or private nature, and find a solution together. The cohesion of the group and the relationship with the school directors is very friendly and sometimes even informal, especially when everyone is invited to barbecue evenings together. So if you are looking for adventure and want to study seriously at the same time, the EOC programme is definitely a good way to achieve both.
A semester in Bali
A semester in Indonesia on Bali...The island of the gods is seen as a surfer's paradise or a dream destination for honeymooners, but living here is something completely different. Every day you face new challenges, whether it's the culture, the language or other circumstances. But it is precisely these experiences that you want to gain during a semester abroad in order to surpass yourself and open yourself up to something completely new. Bali is a wonderful opportunity for this and, of course, a very beautiful place. But apart from the rice terraces, jungle and beaches, it's actually about the time spent studying at university. Studying at the EOC in small groups of around 15 people is very different to studying at universities and colleges in Germany. Due to the size of the groups, the seminars are very active and all students are involved. Everything is included, from presentations and role plays to excursions to Bali. However, the university is not something you can get through on your own. It requires work, concentration and a lot of preparation to cope with the workload. If you want to get away from overcrowded lecture theatres and the anonymity of German universities, the EOC is the right place for you. It is easy to talk to lecturers from different countries and they are always ready to help. In addition, the support from the university management is great, because it is always difficult to settle in to such a foreign country, regardless of age, and it is very reassuring to know that you have reliable and caring contacts!

I was at the EOC in Bali in 2011/12 and came across this website two years later because I was looking for information about the EOC for an application. Fortunately, I was still in contact with the director of the programme, who kindly agreed to send me a letter of recommendation. Bali and Indonesia were of course amazing. A beautiful landscape and very friendly people. It was something completely new for me, as I had never been to Asia before. However, the semester definitely gave me a deeper insight into the culture and way of life. The courses at the EOC were taught by international lecturers from Australia, Indonesia, the USA and Germany. I was glad that, unlike some of my fellow students at other universities in Bali, the teaching was at a good English level. We usually had a compact course in one week and then one or two weeks off. During this time, we wrote our assignments, but there was still enough time for surfing or travelling. I particularly enjoyed the multi-day field survey on the island of Nusa Lembongan. There were 15-20 students on the whole programme, mainly from Germany and Holland. As there weren't that many of us, it was easier to chat to the professors during lessons and get to know everyone. I rented a villa with a pool with some fellow students, which turned out to be very cool in the end. I can only recommend Bali and the EOC and would repeat the semester abroad in the programme at any time.
