Description

If you're looking for a simple villa with affordable luxury in Kerobokan, then Villa Baliku 1 is exactly what you're looking for. The villa is located on Jalan Banjar Semer and offers the perfect starting point to easily and quickly reach great restaurants, shops, 24-hour supermarkets and of course the beach, which is only a 5-minute scooter ride away. As the villa is located in a side street, it is quiet and safe despite its central location.

The villa offers three air-conditioned bedrooms. Two bedrooms are located in the two-storey main building, which also houses the bright living area with the open-plan kitchen and an additional guest WC. The third bedroom is located in the outbuilding. All rooms have a beautiful view of the pool.

In the outdoor area there are sunbeds to relax by the pool or you can relax in the shade of the gazebo after a stressful day.

Good location, somewhat dilapidated villa

During my first time in Villa Baliku 1, I actually felt quite comfortable. Some shortcomings were immediately noticeable, such as broken taps in the bathroom or broken cupboards, but on the whole these were things I could come to terms with. You can't expect German standards in Indonesia, that was clear to me. As time went on, however, new problems arose which were not properly rectified despite us reporting them to the landlady. With the start of the rainy season, it became clear how leaky my side door in the room was, because after it had rained, my entire floor was always wet. In addition, there was a lot of mould in the bathroom in the humid climate, which was certainly also due to the fact that you couldn't open a window in the room. My friends in the neighbouring villa, which is very similar, had to deal with completely wet walls in the living room after the rain, which were then provisionally painted over with latex paint, which of course didn't solve the problem. In my last month in the villa, my room felt like it was taking itself apart, perhaps due to the more humid climate in the rainy season. All the hooks in the bathroom broke off, handles on cupboards fell off and when I was sleeping, a huge wooden beam fell off my bed frame onto my head because it wasn't properly secured. This caused a huge dent and was the point at which I was finally fed up with the accommodation. Power cuts were more frequent in the rainy season and sometimes occurred several times a day (including water cuts). It is a pity that the villa itself is nicely laid out for several people and offers everyone enough privacy, but it is clear that no effort is made here with the maintenance and problems are gladly dismissed by the rental company. The location was excellent, I was very satisfied in that respect. I also found it a shame that there was a fish pond full of carp near our villa and a pond with turtles in our neighbouring villa, which were completely neglected. Apparently the animals were bought for demonstration purposes and now nobody looks after them. On the whole, I would rent a different accommodation if I were to go to Bali again. Nevertheless, it was a great time.

A place where you can feel at home

The villa is a place where you can really feel at home. The size is perfect for 3 people and the rooms are relatively large, so even with visitors you have enough space. The furnishings are relatively modern and the cleaning staff are nice. It's a quiet neighbourhood but as mentioned before you have everything you need close by (supermarket, laundry, and warungs). There are two other villas from the same owner right next door which was really great as there are usually other students staying there. The bathrooms could be in a better condition, but for Balinese standards it is ok and also the cleaning is "Bali style", however the staff and the owner were very helpful when we needed help. The neighbourhood is good. Seminyak and Canggu are quite close and it takes about 30-40 minutes to get to Uni.

Quite nice to live in

The villa looks exactly as described in the video and pictures. The rooms are big enough for all the luggage. However, the cleaning could be a bit better. The floors are not mopped often and the bathrooms are not always completely clean.
