Good accommodation

It's a good place to live, according to price and performance. It's a bit dated, but everything is there. The owner is very nice and friendly and helps with everything as much as he can.

I had a great stay!

The staff were very friendly and the stay was good. You get what you pay for, decent but not luxurious. If you like luxury you should look for something more expensive, but if you are looking for cheap accommodation the Bagus Jaya is great!

Great value for money + extremely nice people

I only wanted to book the accommodation for a month at the beginning and then stayed here for the whole semester abroad. The owner, security and all the staff are very friendly and help with every little problem. My room was clean and quiet. Occasionally a few cockroaches got lost in my room, but that can also happen in a good hotel. There is a warung right opposite the accommodation where you can eat well and cheaply. You can sit there comfortably and have a great chat with the other Bagus people. The new owner, his family and his staff really go out of their way to help with any problems. He is the friendliest person I have met during my stay and has become a good friend! There is also an ATM, a grocery shop and a laundry just round the corner. If you want to hire a scooter or go on any excursions, I would definitely ask the owner first, as she usually has more favourable offers for you. I can really only recommend the Bagus Jaya Residence to you and I will definitely go back there when I stay in Bali again!

Really good

Can only agree with the previous speakers, great place. At first I only wanted to rent it for the beginning, but then I stayed for the whole semester abroad :ok_hand:

Warm atmosphere

You immediately feel at home in the residence. The welcome on arrival was warm. If I look for accommodation in Bali again, Bagus Jaya Residence will be my first choice. The surroundings offer everything you need for everyday life. That's why I give it five stars. Small, cute, not overloaded, simply great

Unforgettable time

I only rented a room in Bagus for two months at the beginning. In the end, however, I liked it so much that I lived there for my entire semester abroad. The reason for my decision was probably the great community life there. You get to know a lot of people and always find someone to do something with. The staff are also super nice and Osiana even organised a scooter for me after I came back from my round trip after my studies and was no longer living in Bagus. The location is also very good if you are studying at the university in Denpasar. The rooms themselves are large, but also have shortcomings. The cupboards smell strange and if you're unlucky a cockroach might appear. The outdoor area with pool and a really great gazebo makes up for it though. All in all, I had a great time at the Bagus and can only recommend it!

The best decision

Living at Bagus was the best decision! The price-performance ratio is unrivalled. You quickly make new contacts with other students who also live there and have a really great time together. If you want to be on your own, you can retreat to your room, which is not very luxurious but perfectly fine. If you want to be in company, all you have to do is go outside your room door and you can join any group in planning your day/evening. Whether exploring a beach in the south, going out to eat or partying, there's never a dull moment at the Bagus. The staff there are very friendly, helpful and there for you immediately if you have a problem. The important spots, such as Double Six Beach, Legian Street for partying//shopping etc. are 15-20 minutes away. A supermarket, warungs, a laundry, mobile phone shops are also in the immediate vicinity (1-5min) I got to know many other students who lived in a 4- or 6-bed villa. These were of course much more luxurious than the Bagus, but they also had to pay at least twice as much. I can only recommend living in the Bagus to everyone, because the money you save can then be spent on travelling :)

A great experience

- Location: Bagus is in a very quiet side street, so you don't hear any traffic or other noise at night. Right next door there is delicious food, a supermarket, laundry, mobile phone shop, scooter repair shop, ... Everything is great. The hot spots in Seminyak and Kuta (Double Six Beach, shopping mall, restaurants, etc. are all 15-20 minutes away, so no problem. The Batch Coffee Lounge is only 10 minutes away, and that's the main thing ;) You have to go there! - Rooms: Yes, the rooms really aren't luxury. The facilities offer everything you need and you can have your room cleaned as often as you like. However, I had big problems with mould in my room. My furniture, walls and even the inside of my wardrobe and my clothes were mouldy. The only reason I stayed is because Bagus offers such a great community that makes up for everything else. - Residents and staff: The staff are all very nice and always really quick to help out if there's a problem. The residents make the Bagus that special place :)) We had a really good group and spent many evenings together, surfing, going on excursions together, film evenings, billiards, partying and so on... it never gets boring and you're never alone.

The price-performance ratio is unbeatable!

- Very informal, you never feel lonely here - clean (you decide when and how often to clean) - no one has to starve (substitute mum right in the bagus cooks for you from morning to night, supermarket and other warungs right next door) - Laundry right next door - A quiet place (little traffic, no tourists etc.) - Security (24-hour security & helpers in any emergency situation) - Leisure activities can be booked on site via the bagus - Fun Fun Fun - No luxury but absolutely recommendable. If you can do without gold-plated soap dispensers or marble floors and are satisfied with a "normal residence" where you get everything you need to live, this is the place for you

Top accommodation

I booked the Bagus Yaja residence for two months on recommendation. I have to say top value for money. It was very informal, clean and large, with a great pool area. We travelled around a lot by scooter and left our things in the Bagus, we felt so safe there. Would go there again anytime. Had the best time of my life there. As you can see, I fell head over heels in love with Bali and the crew of the Bagus made it even better for me by making me feel like a friend. So absolutely recommendable if you don't need luxury. I will definitely go back next year.

Super

I lived in a villa for the first month and then in the bagus for three months. My conclusion: living in the bagus is far better than any villa. The price advantage is probably obvious to everyone, but you get everything you need to live. Admittedly, villas offer much more luxury and hygiene. But for me everything was fine. The staff are super nice and courteous. The biggest advantage, however, is the community among the students. There's always something going on. All in all, great!

Bagus!

In a nutshell! You won't get better value for money during your time abroad.

Outstanding value for money with great staff

We were a group of 4 people and actually only wanted to book in until we had found a "nice" villa on site. In the end, we spent our entire stay at the Bagus, which was due to several aspects. First of all, the Bagus Jaya Residence doesn't offer the luxury of a villa, but it does offer numerous other advantages: Firstly, the location is perfect. There are many other student villas and a small bakery serving Western breakfast in the neighbourhood. Directly opposite, Made (the good mummy for all residents) has a small warung where you can get something to eat at almost any time of day or night. She also helps you to integrate and has tips and tricks about Bali. There is a small supermarket 1 minute away that has everything you need. There is also a laundry next door where you can have everything from shoes to swimming trunks and caps washed for a small fee. It's about 35 minutes by scooter to the university and 10 minutes to the beach, and you're not in the most touristy part of the area, which is why the prices for food and co. are not quite as expensive as in Legian, Seminyak or Kuta. During my stay, there were also other students there (there were about 15 of us in total), so there was always something going on and you could tell each other about the upcoming party and everyone knew something different. The two gazebos (roofed, wall-less "huts"), where you can chill out and relax, also contribute to the sociability. The staff at Bagus are super friendly. Osiana and Made, the house managers, help with the odd hangover or the difficult Indonesian test. The cleaning staff take good care of the cleanliness of the rooms and you don't have to worry about anything getting lost. The people are all absolutely trustworthy. There is also the security service. The guys help you to park your scooter and make sure that everything is in order at night. The numerous cameras also contribute to security. The rooms themselves are equipped with almost everything you need, the only thing missing is a fan, as sooner or later you will catch a cold from the air conditioning. We simply bought one for the equivalent of 6 euros. Another small drawback is the somewhat slow internet. However, you will only find super fast internet in very few places in Bali... So if you're looking for clean, well-located accommodation with a great community and can do without a rainforest shower with higher monthly rents, you're definitely in good hands here.

Always happy to return!!! :)

Well, what can I say about Bagus Jaya Residence: I booked the accommodation because of the favourable price. Initially, I had planned to move into a villa with friends after a month in Bagus Jaya, but it never materialised. I and obviously the others felt very comfortable there and even stayed for the whole 4 months. The rooms are not luxury rooms, but they are equipped with everything you need and are perfectly adequate. Instead, the Bagus Jaya Residence scores with its staff, good location and extremely pleasant atmosphere. Osiana (the manager), Made and Anan (the nice neighbours from across the street) and everyone else who hangs around are very helpful and kind-hearted people. No matter how silly the question, they always help you with a smile on their face. So, I can only recommend this accommodation with a clear conscience...there's always something going on and you can feel pretty comfortable :) P.S. "Only" 4 stars, because no luxury ;)

Super accommodation

I chose this accommodation because of the great price, and I never regretted it until the end, first and foremost it depends on the room, I got a relatively large one and without a lie I didn't have a single cockroach in the 3.5 months. Osiana the manager helps you with all kinds of problems and is especially helpful on the phone if you don't speak Indonesian. I felt safe the whole time thanks to the cameras and security. there's a shop right at the front, ATM and you can always get something to eat at Made opposite. had extremely cool people in the accommodation! but also space to retreat as you could always go to your room. all in all, I can only recommend it! :)

Positive and negative

All in all, great value for money. There's always something going on and you meet lots of people, especially Udayana students. The distance to the university is sometimes annoying, but it's all the closer to Kuta, Seminyak and the 707 at Batubelig ;)

Rebecca · Dezember 2014

Always something going on!

The girls before me have already said that the price performance (well, a bit more than you would get in Germany for the money, such as the pool;)), room size is okay, everything you need is there. Unfortunately there is no kitchen in the room but you don't really need one. We didn't really miss it. Of course there are much nicer villas in Bali, but I wouldn't have swapped. There's always something going on at Bagus, there's always someone to do something with. You get to know a lot of people pretty quickly. What's more, we Bagus residents were spared all the stress that so many villa residents had. The location is also great, you can get everywhere quickly. I had to go to the faculty in Denpasar and it's about 15 minutes away by scooter (you can also get one in Bagus if you want). I would definitely do it again! :)

Value for money;)

Bagus is a great place to stay for anyone who wants good accommodation for little money. However, you should also have a reasonable idea of what you can get for ~200 euros. The small flats are adequately equipped for 4 months (huge bed, AC, sofa, wardrobe, table, simple bathroom and simple "kitchen") and are relatively central. The staff will help you with any questions and there is a pleasant atmosphere. The beach is 10-15 minutes away (by scooter) and the architecture faculty is 15 minutes away (by scooter). When I lived there, the whole residence was fully booked by students. So fun is pre-programmed;)

Great Residence

Bagus Jaya Residence offers everything you need and more. The rooms are tidy and nicely furnished, there is a pool and several nice places to stay. It was particularly nice that there was always someone to do something with, including international guests. Made the house mum cooks every day also desired dishes at all times and the prices are also top. It is also good that there is always someone in the office to take care of things like scooters etc. and to help you. Great people, nice rooms, good connections and super catering...

Naja

We threw a party after which the water in the pool had to be changed. We apologised and told Osiana (the manager) that we would pay for the damage. 2 days later we were all woken up in the morning and summoned to the office. There sat Osiana, a "pool mechanic", a representative of the owner and another man who was introduced to us as a police officer. He took photos of us all and Osiana started filming us at some point. Then we were told that we either had to pay 7.5 million or we would be taken to the police the next morning. We were told to pay for the pool machine, but it was already broken before the party. After a long discussion, we paid 600k for the cleaning, which we wanted to do from the start, and it turned out that the police officer wasn't actually a police officer. The way we were treated after 2 months without any problems was not good at all.

Good, with some downsides

I stayed here for 1 month, and lived next door 5 months. The place is at a central location; not as close to the beach as some might prefer. The nearest beach will cost you about 10 minutes by motorbike, and 15 to 20-25 minutes to famous Double Six Beach and Kuta Beach respectively. Also, close to the hip Seminyak area with all its hotspots; lovely! The appartment complex itself ; you will mainly be staying with other Germans, about 70%, and some other students/tourists/expats from anywhere across the world. Good vibe, very sweet if you want to have a strong social group and support. Security, cleaning services and management are all good and really helpful. Rooms are fine, with 2 different styles. However, depending on the room there are difficulties with moist and mould in/on the walls; unhealthy. This is the reason why I left my room after the first month. Others didnt experience the same in their rooms. Good place if you have a mould free room and want many people around.

Thumbs up :)

Good location, about 15 minutes by scooter to the university in Denpasar and about 35 minutes to Jimbaran. Nice staff, you always get help with any questions and problems. There is a small but well-stocked supermarket right on the corner of the driveway - very convenient. Directly opposite there is a very nice neighbour who cooks fresh and delicious food for little money. All in all, you can really feel at home in the Bagus Jaya Residence. Not a luxury, but perfectly adequate. I would come back again. :)
