How to decide
Brief pros & cons of the most important student hotspots.
Canggu
The classic for students: surf, cafés, coworking, lots of internationals. Can get crowded at the weekend.
Seminyak
Beach clubs, restaurants, more well-kept than Canggu. Slightly more expensive and touristy - good if you like comfort.
Ubud
Rice terraces, yoga, culture. Quieter, greener, ideal for writing and studying. No beach nearby.
Jimbaran
Long beaches, seafood, closer to the airport. Relaxed, a little less scene - good for longer stays.
Kuta
Backpacker classic with lots of nightlife. Cheap, but noisy. Rather short stays than whole semesters.
Uluwatu
Cliffs, surf, sunsets. Spread-out, you need a scooter. Beautiful, but more remote.
Sanur
Quiet family vibe, shallow beach, good for swimming. Older crowd, less student scene.
Denpasar
The capital - authentic Bali, markets, cheap. Few tourists, but a city atmosphere.
