- Malaria
Malaria is not a threat to Bali, only in Papua and Sulawesi; Protection by malaraphylaxis (malarone) is possible, but not recommended. Malarone should only be taken at best if it is confirmed that you have malaria. The probability of getting malaria is very low. Malarone is a very powerful drug that affects the whole body. Therefore, you should not take it without reason, even if some doctors recommend it (which were never in Indonesia). The best protection against malaria is a mosquito net at night and mosquito repellant + long-sleeved clothing in the evening.
