What is it about?
Many of you, especially from batch 27, probably know him: Panji. A nice, very grateful Balinese who has done some of your tours and longer trips and has been a good friend. Unfortunately, his health and financial situation are not very good at the moment. Egzona and Imke have therefore started a Facebook group yesterday and contacted some former Bali students as well as us, because someone is needed to help!
Panji had a complication that enables him from being able to urinate. I think we can all imagine the extent of this problem. Therefore, surgery had to be done as soon as possible. Fortunately, Kasih Ibu succeeded in carrying out the operation, even though Panji could not pay the total costs of [currency_sel]10.200.000 IDR[/currency_sel] in advance. Most people in Bali do not have a health insurance simply because they can not afford it with the low income here.

Today, the 28th of May around 10.30 am Bali time I (Chris) phoned with Panji. They will release him from the hospital today, to avoid higher costs for staying in the hospital. He said the doctor told him that would be okay. The total costs of his treatment are [currency_sel]10.200.000 IDR[/currency_sel]. He already paid [currency_sel]5.000.000 IDR[/currency_sel] and [currency_sel]5.200.000 IDR[/currency_sel] are still to be paid. He had to hand in the registration of his scooter and has one week to pay the rest of the bill. I will meet him tonight and give him [currency_sel]7.000.000 IDR[/currency_sel], so he can get his scooter back and so he will have money for the medicine he needs for the next few weeks. I would be happy of a part of this amount comes back through donations.
Recovery
Update: Panji is doing relatively well, under his circumstances. He is making progress. He will possibly be able to walk again in a week. At the moment he can not wear pants because it would hurt too much.
